Nations

  • Alluvia – East-central. Capital: Argoness Ruler: King Lerrin
    Once bottled up north of the mighty Argon River by the Three-Fold Curse, Alluvia
    began to expand its control in all directions after the Curse was broken during
    the Time of Troubles. Enjoyed a short period of empire during the Time of
    Troubles, which ended shortly after the Spellplague and subsequent wars against
    the monstrous races from the Sleibhe Mountains. The nation now controls only a
    quarter of what it once claimed. Alluvia is currently a relatively weak nation
    due to frequent wars, both internal and external. They have recently begun to
    return to xenophobic ways.
  • Vo Mandig – North/Northwest. Capital: Tol Kein. Ruler:Duchess Kieri Gaillardsdotter
    Formerly part of Alluvia; seceded by decision of the Duchess, who felt the royal
    line had lost its honour as well as its mandate. The Duchess refuses to take the
    title of Queen, but is referred to as such by many of her subjects. Vo Mandig is
    a wealthy nation, due largely to its large deposits of mineral resources. A very
    young nation, as settlement only began after the Time of Troubles. The militia
    and military are extremely well trained, as they must be to engage in their
    frequent clashes with the monstrous races of the Sleibhe Mor.
  • Sorlund – South/Southeast. Capital: Vo Graine. Ruler: King Guy du Halle
    Formerly the Southern Duchy of Alluvia, seceded violently after the Spellplague
    Wars. This King is the first of his line on the throne in Vo Graine, chosen by
    the Council of Barons to take the post. In many ways, King Guy is subservient to
    said Council. The military is made up of well-equipped but inexperienced troops.
    Vo Graine is the largest safe harbor on Osteth, facilitating much of the trade in
    the land, explaining Sorlund’s robust trade-based economy.
  • Kara-Dzun – Southwest. Capital: Ukio-Taku. Ruler: Tentai Artonshi Shitoro-sama
    Populated by refugees and immigrants from Kara-Tur. Founded after the Time of
    Troubles. A closed state, especially since the Spellplague. Trade is allowed
    only in the desert city of Wenshu. From Wenshu, the caravan route moves east to
    Graven’s Keep, and from there to the rest of Osteth. Occasionally the Kara-
    Dzunians test the mettle of their neighbors with raids and skirmishes.
